Hi There,

Hi there, is a series of ceramic sculptures made during my time at the Dieppe Cultural Centre Emerging Artist Residency. I created this collection to help me reconnect with myself and recover from my experience in an abusive relationship that ended abruptly, leaving me without shelter, access to money, or a support system in a foreign country. Using handbuilding clay techniques and textiles I produced a group of free-standing and wall-mounted hanging sculptures.

The forms are covered in a carved and painted surface design which the central figure is unaware of. These overwhelming details represent the signs and realities of the abuse that were apparent from the outside but inaccessible to me while I was inside the relationship.

Together, these materials and forms explore themes of vulnerability, rupture, survival, healing and the reclaiming of agency after trauma.
